CEVAW Morning Tea
The AAWJ has recently partnered with the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre for Elimination of Violence against Women (CEVAW) to establish a national research project. The objective of the research is to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women’s experience of family violence order proceedings.
Members of the CEVAW University of Melbourne node, Professor Heather Douglas (Chief Investigator) and Samantha O’Donnell (Research Fellow) will lead the research project after Ethics Committee approval has been received. Retired County Court judge, Frances Millane (Chair), Chair of Queensland Law Reform Commission, Fleur Kingham and Magistrate Jay Pandya comprise the AAWJ sub-committee responsible for oversight of the project.
The photograph below was taken at a CEVAW morning tea on 19 February 2025 for CEVAW University of Melbourne node and partners. Professor Heather Douglas is standing at the left of the photo and Frances Millane is seated immediately in front of her.
