Newsletter Volume 2- August 2019
This month sees the release of our Newsletter Volume 2.
Welcome to Volume 2 of the AAWJ Newsletter covering events since October 2018.
On a general note I am very pleased to advise that our email distribution list now extends to at least 220 Female Judicial Officers in Australia and we are very fortunate to have membership from every Court and Tribunal. Our professional lives are diverse, but as women judicial officers we share the goal of promoting equal access to justice and equality under the rule of law and do so from the particular perspective of women. The AAWJ provides the chance to link with each other in Australia and internationally through educational programmes, conferences and networking, such as this Newsletter.
In this Newsletter are examples of the wide range of occasions over the last nine months where members have taken the opportunity to do just that, ranging from local State-based events, International conferences and celebratory dinners and functions.
As we enter the second half of 2019 and, if like me, you wonder about how quickly the year has passed, this is an opportunity to look back at some of our achievements and look forward to many more in 2020. In particular I repeat what appeared in the last Newsletter, namely to encourage you to attend the 15th Biennial IAWJ Conference, with the theme “Celebrating Diversity” to be held in Auckland 2020 from 7-10 May, 2020.
Thanks to all the hard-working Committee Members and special thanks to WA Committee Member Jenny Hawkins for compiling and publishing this Newsletter and overseeing the Website.
